Dear Parents,
Welcome to Aka•Demos for Kids. This program is based on an Innovative Advanced Spanish Curriculum designed to guide children through a rich, age-appropriate journey of language discovery, literacy, and communication. Our program introduces Spanish as a second language through interactive, joyful, and structured experiences that develop the four essential areas of communication — listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
From their very first class, students learn to understand and express themselves naturally in Spanish, combining vocabulary development, phonics, reading comprehension, and writing skills with play, songs, and storytelling. Each level builds upon the previous one, allowing children to grow in confidence and fluency while truly enjoying the process of learning a new language.
The first session is always evaluative, allowing us to determine each student’s language level, strengths, and specific needs. From there, we design a fully individualized learning plan tailored to their needs and goals — whether that’s learning the basics, developing fluency, or excelling in academic Spanish.
At Aka•Demos for Kids, we inspire young minds to learn beyond their grade level—building confidence, curiosity, and readiness for the years ahead.
Ages 3–4: Early Language Discovery
In this first stage, preschoolers begin their introduction to Spanish through songs, games, and sensory activities. They learn basic words and expressions related to their daily world — greetings, colors, body parts, family, animals, and emotions — while developing early literacy and pre-writing skills. Through art, movement, and repetition, children begin to recognize Spanish sounds, pronounce vowels and consonants, and use simple words and phrases with growing confidence.
Ages 5–6: Building Literacy and Expression
At this level, children deepen their understanding of Spanish as a complete language system. They learn to blend syllables, read short stories, and write simple sentences with correct grammar and punctuation. Lessons integrate music, storytelling, and real-life themes such as family, nature, and emotions, encouraging students to communicate ideas both orally and in writing. Writing evolves from tracing and copying to short descriptive and narrative paragraphs, helping them express creativity while mastering structure and fluency.
Ages 7–9: Fluency, Grammar, and Creative Communication
Older learners strengthen their fluency and grammatical accuracy through authentic reading, structured grammar lessons, and creative writing. They read both fiction and nonfiction texts, analyze story elements, summarize information, and express opinions in Spanish with clarity. Writing becomes more detailed and personal, including organized paragraphs and original stories. This level encourages analytical thinking, collaboration, and confidence in using Spanish naturally and effectively.
Across all stages, Aka•Demos for Kids combines music, storytelling, movement, and hands-on learning to make Spanish both enjoyable and meaningful.
Assessment is ongoing and personalized, ensuring that each child’s progress is celebrated and supported.
Aka•Demos for Kids is an Innovative Advanced Spanish program that builds strong communicative foundations — preparing children to listen, speak, read, and write in Spanish with confidence, creativity, and joy.
Please note: Consistent class attendance is essential for your child to achieve these learning goals.
